Licenses for veterinary medicinal products can be requested from the Medicines Evaluation Board - Veterinary Medicines Board. This body is empowered to issue permits in the form of orders on behalf of the Minister of Agriculture, Nature and Food Quality (art. 44 DGR).

Apply for a license with the application form (in Dutch). The fully completed application form should be returned along with the specified appendices. For a production license, a list of activities per veterinary medicine is needed, indicated in the application form as productlist (in Dutch). Use the form activities (in Dutch) if you want to apply or change the product activities.

The receipt of the application will be confirmed in writing, with mention of the date and the case number assigned to the application for handling.

Then you will be invoiced for the application fees. The application will be handled after the sum owed has been paid (art. 45 DGR). Refer to Tariffs for information about the costs.

There is no annual fee for a production or distribution license. Costs are only charged for an application for a first license, for extension of the period of validity or for a change in the production or distribution license.

After paying the costs, an inspection of the production or distribution location is planned in consultation with the applicant. A decision will be made about the application within 12 weeks of receipt of the abovementioned fees (art. 47 DGR).
